Q. What is Women of Today?
A. Women of Today is a non-profit, community service organization that offers leadership training and opportunities, fellowship, and the chance to make your community a better place to live for everyone.
Q. How can I help improve my community?
A. Our chapter serves the community in numerous ways. Some of the projects we sponsor are:
- craft shows twice a year to generate money to donate to local organizations
- birthday and women’s wellness bags for the local foodshelf
- annual Riverfest community celebration (volunteer with dance concessions, duck adoptions, talent show)
Q. If I join, how much time will I have to commit?
A. One of the benefits of joining the Women of Today is that you can select your level of involvement. Although there are no pre-set requirements to be a part of our group, it is suggested that you attend the monthly general meetings to help stay up-to-date with our current projects and events.
Q. How big is Women of Today?
A. An average chapter is around 15-25 members. Our chapter has around 45 members. There are close to 1,000 members in 50 communities in Minnesota alone. Nationwide, the Women of Today consists of over 1,500 members.
Q. Why does the Monticello Chapter Women of Today raise money for people in other communities?
A. Our mission is to people all around us: in our towns, counties, state, nation and world. We help these people because we believe in helping others, including those who, some day, may help us or someone we care about.
Q. Why should I pay dues to be a volunteer?
A. Yearly dues are used to support the state and national Women of Today organization, who provide many benefits to both our individual members and local chapters.
Q. How old do I have to be to become a member?
A. You have to be 18 years old to become a member. And you are never too old to be a member!
